This yarn is spun from the finest Welsh Mule: Bluefaced Leicester with character! The Welsh Mule comes about by crossing the local hill breeds with a Bluefaced Leicester ram, and this cross improves the wool. Suited to clothing and accessories, it has a good definition whilst developing a nice halo. It is produced on farms throughout the Cambrian Mountains Region, which encompasses much of Mid Wales – a stunningly beautiful and wild area perfect for producing great fleeces and allowing sheep to live happily. We love this yarn as it ticks so many of our boxes; British, small producer, supports farmers, local, encourages farmers to improve their fleece, provides another reason for farmers to keep sheep other than for their meat and it is absolutely gorgeous! Soft but with an underlying strength that means it will wear and wear well so that all your hard effort in making something special with it will last for years to come. Becca has knitted a gorgeous brioche cowl with the welsh red and slate and the squish factor is amazing. A really solid favourite.
