Soft, squishy, amazing colours, semi-solid and variegated, superwash and fair-trade, what more could you want? We are entranced by this gorgeous yarn from Uruguay from a family-run firm. The water used for dyeing is heated by solar power and they employ local people. The majority of their fleece comes from sheep that are traditionally herded and there is no muleising. They also have their own flock of high welfare sheep and are committed to humane, sustainable sheep farming. Their superwash process is Oeko-tex standard and uses as little chemicals as possible.
Although Malabrigo classify Rios as 4 ply, when it comes to mileage, it is fat double knitting or American worsted. We are stocking this yarn as it meets our ethical standards, it is great for children's clothes, any garment or accessory, and it is great value.

You can wash me in the washing machine but put me on a gentle cycle using cold water. I don't want to be tumble dried. Then I will stay as beautiful as when you bought me.
