Hardanger is a traditional Norwegian Counted Thread technique. It is
used to decorate both clothing and tableware. Traditionally worked as
white on white it also works well with a modern twist in colour.
The technique involves stitching a variety of holding stitches and blocks
then cutting and removing threads to leave spaces which can be
decorated or left blank.
In this workshop you will create a scissorkeeper using a selection of
stitches.
You will need to bring some small, sharp scissors for snipping threads
and a 6” embroidery hoop. A hoop is needed for keeping the fabric taut
when cutting threads.
Fabric, needles, and threads are provided.
Tutor is Royal School of Needlework trained Katherine Keatley
Saturday 21st September 10am-4.30pm in Oswestry. Tea and coffee is provided but please bring your own lunch.
