YARN SHOP DAY!!! Saturday 6th May 

All day long you will be able to buy the new yarn shop sock yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners whom we love. Excellent yarn, British and great value. We will also be having our 

Wool Fiddlers United from 4pm to 5.50pm in the shop, £1 charge. Come and join us for chat and a relaxing time to get on with your project.

19th May Friday: Beginner's Crochet, get your loops and hooks sorted and start being a happy hooker! 2pm, £20

24th May Wednesday: Introduction to Nal bInding. An ancient technique somewhere between knitting, sewing and weaving. Learn the basic technique and knit like a Viking! 2pm £10

1st June Thursday; The return of THE JOY OF SOX, learn the mysteries of sock knitting from the cuff, turning the heel and constructing the perfect toe. Run by the Queen of Sox, Becca, who can knit socks anyway up! Some knitting experience is essential, not suitable for total beginners. 10am- 2pm £45 including cake.

8th June Thursday: Beginning to End. How many ways are there to cast on and off again? I don't know! But you can learn some of them and why you would want to use them with the ever educational Becca. Suitable for beginners up. 10am - 2pm, £45 including cake.

17th June Saturday: Mind your Tension.  What on earth do you do with a tension square once you have knitted it? Why bother to knit one anyway? How big should it be? All these questions and more will be answered. Please contact us for details of homework. 2-4pm, £20

22nd June Thursday: Introduction to Spinning. Learn to spin on a drop spindle, the original way to turn fleece into yarn. You will learn what to spin, how to draft and spinning using a distaff and without. Have a go at different fleeces and fibres. All materials are included. An excellent step towards confidence in using a spinning wheel. All materials provided including a variety of fleece to spin, £20

 

Please note all workshops must be booked in advance as places are strictly limited and a place will only be reserved on receipt of a deposit. All workshops are held in the shop on Gallery Level, Market Hall, Shrewsbury, SY1 1HQ, unless otherwise specified.

We offer three levels of workshops;

a dip your toe in the water type or learn a little technique, (casting on/off, changing colour, basic cables, crochet bunting, pattern reading for the bewildered)

learn the basics of a new thing (Knitting Chapters 1 & 2, Beginners Crochet, nal binding, needle felting, an introduction to the spindle, fair isle techniques, dorset buttons, peg loom, pattern adaptation)

or a full-on 4 hour learn something serious all the way through sort (Joy of Sox; traditional and reversed,  Get Your Steek on, take it all the way spinning, beaded jewellery)
