We decided to stock the utterly gorgeous Midnatssol for many reasons. The colour palette is gorgeous, it is much softer and has less prickle than a mohair yarn, it is more ethical than a similar kid silk yarn as the tencel replaces the silk and the wool used is mulesing-free. We constantly strive to find you the most ethical and delicious yarns for your projects and this one is certainly that!
MIDNATSSOL is a super soft, light, airy, and full-bodied yarn with a serious amount of squish! It is an exclusive blend of 54% baby alpaca, 10% merino wool (mulesing free), and 36% tencel. Tencel makes up the fine thread, holding the fibres together beautifully. Midnatssol is produced specially for CaMaRose by a family-owned Italian spinning mill. The merino wool is from South America.
Midnatssol is perfect as a complimentary yarn held with other yarns or held two strands together. Two strands of Midnatssol held together creates an incredibly light, warm and soft fabric which is utterly delicious!
Midnatssol is fabulous for sweaters, cardigans, shawls, hats, baby, and children’s knitwear, using one thread, but also using several threads for chunky sweaters and cardigans.
The colourways of Midnatssol are designed to compliment other yarns by CaMaRose and perfectly match current Scandaway patterns and palettes. Muted, bright or calm these colours combine well with other colours of yarns to make a thicker garment or accessory.
The dark colours in Midnatssol with a black tencel thread, have longer fibers than the light colours with white tencel thread.
The recommended needle size using 1 strand is 3.0 - 4.0 mm. Using several threads, you can go up to a 6.0 mm needle.
Recommended gauge: 1 strand on a 3 mm needle, 19-22 sts = 10 cm.
Alternative gauges: 2 strands of Midnatssol on a 4 mm needle, 17-18 sts = 10 cm. 3 strands of Midnatssol on a 5 mm needle, 14-15 sts = 10 cm.
The length is 200 meters per one delicious ball of 25 grams.
You will want to HAND WASH your finished finished work, using wool detergent and lay the finished work flat to dry while delighting in it's squishy beauty all the while.
