We are so excited to have Laine Nordic Knits. It is a captivating one-off issue of Laine Magazine, dedicated entirely to Nordic knitting traditions and aesthetics. It features 164 pages and 17 knitting patterns by Nordic designers or yarn brands, as well as interesting articles and beautiful photography. This special edition promises to immerse readers in the rich tapestry of Nordic knitwear.
The knits were created by the following designers and yarn brands: Jenny Ansah, Kristin Drysdale, Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, Ronja Hakalehto, Tiina Huhtaniemi, Caitlin Hunter, Marianne Isager, Åse Lund Jensen, Susanna Kaartinen, Eli Leistad (aka Skeindeer), Lotta H. Löthgren, Tiia Reho, Sandnes Garn and Anna Sjösvärd.
Beautiful textures & elaborate colourwork — those are the two main features in this issue’s sweaters and cardigans. Besides designers coming from the Nordic countries, Laine Nordic Knits features two designers with Nordic roots & inspiration. This special issue also includes two super interesting articles. Read how the Danish knitting superstar Mette Wendelboe Okkels, also known as PetiteKnit, turned a career in medicine into one in knitwear design, and how Henna Kvarnström and Tove Ramstedt set up their own artisan spinning mill called Linkulla Spinneri in Inkoo, Finland.
“For Laine’s editorial team, this issue also means, in a way, a return to where it all started: the Nordic aesthetics, landscape and knitting traditions. Laine was founded in Finland in 2016 with the subtitle ‘Nordic Knit Life’, but as the magazine’s readership has expanded, its content has become more and more international (which is, of course, a good thing). With this special issue, however, we want to pay tribute to Laine’s roots, Nordic yarns and the way of life up here in the North.”
