This beautiful new Annual is a celebration of firsts for Shetland Wool Week – it includes two heritage patterns: working with the Unst Heritage Centre, Shetland Museum and Donna Smith, they have revived and reinterpreted two distinctly different vintage garments for today’s knitter. Additionally, after many requests, there will be the option to buy the Annual as a digital PDF option for the first time.

Now in its eighth edition, the SWW Annual is a true celebration of creativity, crofting and textiles heritage as well as a showcase of the versatility of Shetland wool in all its different hues. With stunning photography that captures the essence of the islands, there are 13 patterns from 11 designers which include Fair Isle, lace and weaving. There is a good balance of projects from stash busting ideas which include smaller accessories through to bigger, more challenging knits.

  • ElizabethJohnston: Seabreeze Cardigan
  • Linda Shearer: Nesbyen Socks
  • Mati Ventrillon: Moosidales Hat
  • Wilma Malcolmson: Ripple Wristlets
  • Rachel Hunter: Ristie Poncho
  • Ella Gordon: Sunbeam Dog Coat
  • Alison Rendall: Stjarna Smucks
  • Linda Shearer: Bonnie Isle Hat. Find the kit here
  • Kathleen Anderson: Palm Beach Mitts
  • Edna Szeles: Seaweed Scarf (weaving pattern)

As well as the heritage pattern features, this year's annual contains:-

  • An article by Janette Budge on Shetland Flock Book aficionado Anne Doull with photos by Alexa Fitzgibbon
  • A look into the fascinating array of handmade and very individual Shetland ‘dressing’ boards in the Shetland Museum’s collection; beautifully illustrated by local artist Aimee Labourne
  • Textile design researcher, Dr Sarah Dearlove takes a look at the tweed collection and explains how it’s a global story of design ideas, colour experimentation, and cloth quality development

Please know that by purchasing a copy of the SWW Annual you are supporting Shetland’s textile industry and the future of Shetland Wool Week as an event.
