We have had such fun gathering all these fleeces from our shepherdesses, hearing how their year has been, seeing their sheep and sometimes feeding them, touching each fleece to make sure of the quality (and because we love the sheepy greasy feel of raw fleece), and enjoying some Ewe & Ply picnics along the way. We pay a fair price for these top quality fleeces from small flocks, making breeding for fleece a sustainable option. Our fleeces are spun by New Lanark Spinning Mill, a World Heritage Site which has been spinning since 1786. They come back to us to be kettle dyed in small batches at our Dyeworks at The Workhouse in Llanfyllin. We have expanded our colour range to make the most of this deliciously bouncy woollen spun yarn. Light and cosy warm, this yarn loves being cables and colour work. The blend of fleeces means that while it is soft it will wear well and last for years.
2019 Blend contains Romney, Dutch Spotted, Shetland cross Merino, Shropshire, Lleyn and Llanwenog fleeces giving a ecru base with a gentle grey fleck.
Our fat 50g skeins give 80 metres of woolly fun from the Welsh Marches.
4.5mm needles or hook approximate 18 stitches to 10cm.
Happy to be cold washed on a wool wash in a machine but dry flat after reshaping with love.
